Amazon removed more than 1 million items for making false coronavirus claims

Amazon Inc has announced that it has removed more than 1 million products for making false claims about coronavirus.

Dharmesh Mehta,  Amazon’s vice president of worldwide customer trust announced during a hearing on fake and unsafe products.

“We’ve removed proactively more than a million products making false claims and tens of thousands of products that were attempting to price gauge customers,’’ — he said

He also made it clear that the situation is getting worse and the company is working hard to keep bad actors at bay.

“This is a rapidly evolving situation and we’re being vigilant.’’– he added.

Apart from this, Amazon also penalizes sellers for raising prices related to coronavirus.

“We are disappointed that bad actors are attempting to artificially raise prices on basic need products during a global health crisis and, in line with our long-standing policy, have recently blocked or removed tens of thousands of offers,”

“We continue to actively monitor our store and remove offers that violate our policies.”– Amazon spokesperson said.

Since the virus spread is amplifying at an unbelievable rate, companies like CVS (CVS) and Walgreens (WBA) has raised concerns and warns the market that there could be shortages of disinfectant products like hand sanitizers and cleaning wipes
