According to a study on rats, the scientist has discovered that consuming four cups of coffee a day will significantly reduce the fat gained after eating unhealthy food.
Scientists found that after consuming caffeine, the body started producing less fat in the blood and fat cells stored less inside them in the presence of caffeine.
During the study, scientists gave four cups of caffeine a day to rats along with a carbohydrate-heavy diet high in fat and sugar for four weeks.
Researchers revealed rats that consumed four cups of caffeine a day gained 16% less weight and 22% less body fat when compared to the rats which dint consume caffeine.
“Considering the findings, mate tea and caffeine can be considered anti-obesity agents, “said Dr Elvira Gonzalez de Mejia, an author of the study.
After finding success rats, researchers plan to conduct the same experiment in humans.
“The results of this research could be scaled to humans to understand the roles of mate tea and caffeine as potential strategies to prevent overweight and obesity, as well as the subsequent metabolic disorders associated with these conditions.”
Researchers also said consuming caffeine had negative impacts on high fat.
‘The consumption of caffeine from mate or from other sources alleviated the negative impact of a high-fat, high-[sugar] diet on body composition due to the modulation of certain enzymes in both [fat] tissue and the liver.’
At the end of the study, researchers concluded that the amount of fat on rats that consumed caffeine was less when compared to the rats that dint consume caffeine.
