Chemically, curcumin is a diarylheptanoid. Curcumin belongs to the group of curcuminoids.
Curcuminoids act as natural phenols and are responsible for turmeric’s yellow color.
Is it possible to just eat straight turmeric to benefit from curcumin? Unfortunately no. It is to be noted that Curcumin only makes up about 2-5% of turmeric. So if you eat a whole turmeric spice, you only get a fraction of curcumin.
But Of course, if you eat some curries per week, you may get a lot of curcumin in your diet, but if curry is not the staple of your diet, you may not get a lot of curcumin in your diet altogether.
